In 2020, after almost a decade working in corporate marketing, I took the leap to quit my 9-5 to pursue my lifelong dream of working with creatives.
And here's the truth: even if I had the skills, the passion and the ambition, I struggled with putting myself out there for years.
Take 1: when I started my business, I couldn’t bring myself to promote my work...nevermind selling. So for the first year, I relied on word of mouth. And it worked for a while but as I accepted any job I could find, overworked and undercharged...I ended up burning out. It took months to recover.
Take 2: I managed to channel the courage to launch my social media and "get out of my comfort zone" just like the "experts" said. I thought it'd get easier with time and repetition...but it got harder. Every time I showed up, I felt exposed and a little part of me was dying inside. So I kept stopping and starting.
Take 3: I came across an introvert coach explaining the difference between introverts and extroverts in terms of energy management... so I tried a different approach: showing up at my own pace. And it helped with not feeling drained but something still felt off...
